The Washington Education Association has announced it's endorsement of Dr. Rich Semler for Superintendent of Public Instruction.

This endorsement represents the teachers who are on the frontlines educating our children and who will work with me in our effort to refocus Washington education from testing to a more balanced curriculum that embraces high standards yet respects individual student needs and desires." Dr. Semler is currently the Superintendent of the Richland School District where he has served for the past eleven years. Throughout his 36 years in the education community Rich has worked in a leadership capacity in Wapato, Vashon Island, Issaquah, and Richland as well as beginning his career as a teacher in Spokane.

The WEA's endorsement joins that of former Governor Booth Gardener, former Superintendent of Public Instruction Judith Billings, and many other people who are committed to changing the direction of the public school system in Washington State.
